Woman in hospital with serious injuries after being found in downtown apartment

EDMONTON —  Edmonton police were contacted by EMS after an injured woman was found in an apartment suite downtown Thursday morning.

Around 10:30 a.m. a maintenance worker found her in the apartment in the area of 106 Avenue and 105 Street and called emergency crews.  Paramedics then contacted EPS.

The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The location of her injuries and the nature of those injuries are not being disclosed at this time.

“Right now it’s being treated as a serious injury and we’re trying to delve into the circumstances as to why the female did sustain the injury,” said Sgt. Steve Sharpe.

Downtown detectives held the scene for much of Thursday and forensics will also examine the scene.
