Compass Card now in operation on the West Coast Express

WATCH: The long- awaited Compass Card finally came into effect on the Westcoast Express today, but its debut wasn’t without glitches.  Rumina Daya reports. 

The long-awaited Compass Card is now fully functional on the West Coast Express.

Translink had staff at every station Thursday morning to answer questions and make sure things ran smoothly and on time.

It seems like the morning commute went smoothly for most passengers, but some did have problems.

“I went online to load my card on Sunday night and it wouldn’t accept my information, same with another friend of mine too,” said one commuter.

Another rider said tapping in and out every time is inconvenient.

“Too many taps,” echoed another commuter. “Between Port Moody and downtown, by the time I get home tonight, I will have tapped my card five times.”
