High risk offender Russell Noskey. Calgary Police Service

CALGARY – Calgary police are warning the public about the release of a high risk offender.

Russell Noskey, 54, was let out of jail in the Calgary area on Tuesday after serving a two-year federal prison sentence for assault causing bodily harm.

He also has a history of violent offences against both strangers and people known to him, committed in Edmonton and Peace River.

Noskey is described as approximately 170 pounds, 5’8” tall with brown hair and brown eyes. He also has two tattoos – “R.N” on his left hand, and a small cross on his left forearm.

Police will monitor Noskey through the High Risk Offender Program.

They are taking the rare step of advising the public about Noskey’s release, saying they have considered all related issues and privacy concerns, and still feel this step is in the interest of public safety.
