Correctional Service Canada will investigate the death of an inmate at the Bowden Institution in central Alberta.

Juan Wiens, 34, was found unresponsive in a living unit on Tuesday.

Staff members immediately started CPR.

Emergency services were called, but the man could not be resuscitated.

Wiens was serving a three-year sentence for driving offences.
