Fire bans in place at many regional parks

Regina – Fire bans are quickly being put in place at regional parks in the province.

Nine regions in the southwest and Wood Mountain issued a ban Tuesday afternoon on all open fires, including fire pits, burning barrels, and fireworks.

It’s because of extremely dry conditions putting communities at a high risk for grass fires.

The fire ban will be in effect until further notice, meaning Canada Day firework plans may have to be changed.

RMs currently under fire bans include:

  • Swift Current
  • Lac Pelletier
  • Riversdale
  • Sask Landing
  • Coulee
  • Whiska Creek
  • Webb
  • Excelsior
  • Lac Pelletier Regional Park
  • Wood Mountain Regional Park
