REGINA – The Canadian Border Service Agency (CBSA) seized a large amount of money from a traveler at the North Portal Border Crossing.
On June 19, officers sent a man from the USA for further examination, and during the vehicle search they found Can $98,800 in US currency spread throughout the vehicle.
Evidence located during the examination led CBSA officers believe that the money is linked to organized crime. They seized the money (with no terms of release) as suspected proceeds of crime and turned it over to RCMP.
This was the fourth largest proceeds of crime seizure by the CBSA in 2015.
