A brazen theft in Port St. Lucie, Florida has many offended at who the thief targeted.
Navy service member Nathan Ellison volunteers every week with the Veterans Support Organization, a charity that helps rehabilitate veterans as they transition into civilian life. He collects donations for the charity at a busy intersection.
But when Ellison placed the donation bucket down for a moment, a man on a scooter snatched it up and rode off with the hundreds of dollars meant to help struggling vets.
“He drove up on the scooter, grabbed the bucket and put it between his legs and took off,” Officer Don Paris told CBS12.
“The bucket says Veterans Organization on the can, yet he’s just scooting along, moving forward with the wind blowing in his hair.”
Ellison described the man as “someone who actually has no heart – who doesn’t care.”
Fortunately, several witnesses were around to snap photos of the offender, which helped police track him down at his residence.
Gunner Schultz was arrested and charged with grand theft for the alleged robbery.
