YouTube video shows amateur storm chasers get up close and personal with twister

WINNIPEG — Many Manitobans spotted the tornadoes that touched down Wednesday.

But it’s likely that none got as close as Natia Devloo.

She posted this incredible video of the twister near Manitou, Manitoba – about 150 km southwest of Winnipeg – on Thursday.

WATCH: At least 2 tornadoes touch down in Manitoba

According to the caption on the YouTube video Natia, her dad and her uncle saw the tornado in the distance and, “decided to chase it.” They drove their vehicle to within 50 feet of the tornado in a farm field.

The three stayed inside the pick up truck while they recorded the video and the tornado swirled in front of them and pelted the vehicle with dirt.

Getting so close to a tornado is not advised; but Environment Canada says the Manitoba twisters Wednesday were EF0 – the lowest on the intensity scale.
