EDMONTON — One person died in a two vehicle collision on Highway 63 Tuesday morning.
The head-on collision involved a pick up truck and a semi tractor trailer and happened at around 6 a.m. near Wandering River.
The driver of the pick up died on scene while the driver of the semi was taken to hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

An RCMP Collision Analyst is investigating the cause of the crash, but alcohol isn’t believed to have been a factor.
The highway was closed for several hours following the crash.
Serious and fatal collisions are common on Highway 63 which is the main route into Fort McMurray and Alberta’s oil sands region. Tuesday’s collision happened on a non-twinned portion of the highway, one kilometre north of Wandering River which is 232 kilometres north of Edmonton.
