TORONTO – Environment Canada has issued a tornado watches and warnings as well as severe thunderstorm watches and warnings for parts of southwestern and southern Ontario.
A system moving in from southern lower Michigan is sweeping across the state and is expected to affect southwestern Ontario during the evening commute.
Thunderstorm watches and warnings were issued Monday evening for Barrie, Orillia, Grey and Bruce.
A tornado warning was issued for Goderich, Bluewater, Southern Huron County at 10 p.m.
As well, a tornado watch was issued for Sarnia, Oxford, Brant, Simcoe, Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, and London.
Meanwhile thunderstorm watches were issued for:
Oxford – Brant
City of Toronto
Newmarket – Georgina – Northern York Region
Vaughan – Richmond Hill – Markham
Barrie – Orillia – Midland
City of Hamilton,
Innisfil – New Tecumseth – Angus
Halton – Peel

If threatening weather approaches, take shelter in a basement immediately. If you do not have a basement, put as many walls between you and the outside as possible.
Remember: A watch is issued when conditions are favourable for severe weather. A warning is when hazardous weather is imminent or occurring.
