Speed Skating Canada has called a media conference with Winnipeg speed skater for this Saturday with the topic “regarding her career”.

Klassen has won six Olympic medals in long track speed skating, including five during one single Olympic games in Torino, Italy in 2006.

The now 35-year-old is tied with fellow Winnipegger Clara Hughes for being the most decorated Olympic athlete.

Klassen hasn’t skated competitively in more than a year.

In May 2014, Klassen had said she was going to take a year to decide the future of her career on ice.
