REGINA – A Regina man was tasered by police Wednesday afternoon after allegedly holding a knife and threatening to hurt himself.
Officers responded to the 500 block of Wascana Street around 1:30 p.m after a caller said a man had hit a woman in the face during an argument.
When police arrived, the suspect allegedly threatened officers and barricaded himself inside a bedroom of the home with a knife.
Crisis negotiators and the SWAT team were called in and gained entry and tasered the man, once he threatened to harm himself.
He was treated by EMS on scene before being taken into custody.
The 23-year-old has been charged with assault and uttering threats; his name has not been released.
The suspect will appear in court Thursday morning.
