Calgary woman hospitalized after hand caught in meat processor

CALGARY – A woman in her late 30s was taken to hospital on Tuesday morning after her hand became entangled in a meat processing machine.

EMS was called to a workplace in the 2800 block of 45 Avenue S.E. just after 7:30 a.m. When paramedics arrived on scene, the woman had already managed to remove her hand from the machine.

The woman was treated on scene and taken to Peter Lougheed Hospital in non-life threatening condition, with serious soft-tissue injury to the fingers of her hand.

Occupational Health and Safety has been notified of the incident but couldn’t provide any details as of 2 p.m.
