Zoe Saldana reveals husband took her last name

TORONTO — Actress Zoe Saldana has revealed her husband bucked tradition and took her last name when they tied the knot.

“I tried to talk him out of it,” she told InStyle.

Saldana secretly married Marco Perego in June 2013 in London. The couple welcomed twin sons Bowie and Cy last November.

“I told him, ‘If you use my name, you’re going to be emasculated by your community of artists, by your Latin community of men, by the world,” Saldana recalled.

“Marco looks up at me and says, ‘Ah, Zoe, I don’t give a s***.”

According to Hitchswitch, a name change service for newlyweds, only 3 per cent of clients are men taking their wives’ surname.

Saldana has appeared in blockbusters like Avatar, Star Trek Into Darkness and Guardians of the Galaxy.
