Hiker found dead in B.C. backcountry identified

Air support helped search crews locate the body of a missing hiker in southwestern B.C. Chilliwack Search and Rescue

CHILLIWACK, B.C. – The coroners service has identified a man who died in a fall while hiking in southwestern British Columbia.

Twenty-year-old Sukhjeet Saggu was reported missing on Friday after being separated from a hiking group in Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park.

The Surrey, B.C., man’s body was found at the foot of a loose rock incline on Saturday after a search lasting more than 20 hours.

He was confirmed dead shortly after.

The BC Coroners Service has concluded the fall was accidental.

The man’s family has been notified.
