UPDATE: Elections BC says the results of the 2015 Metro Vancouver transit plebiscite will be released at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 2.
Elections BC is expecting to announce the results of the 2015 transit plebiscite before the end of June.
Communications Manager Don Main says they originally anticipated that the results would be reported by late June or early July.

The voting ended May 29.
“Elections BC is receiving the ballot packages delivered to our Plebiscite Service Offices between last Wednesday and the close of voting,” says Main. “Election officials are conducting the screening and validation of certification envelopes. Once all certification envelopes that can be considered for vote counting are validated, Elections BC officials will begin the opening of the certification envelopes and removing the secrecy envelopes that contain the ballots.”
Secrecy envelopes will then be opened and the ballot removed for electronic scanning and counting of the vote.
Elections BC has between 55 and 65 officials working on the process.
Main says there will not be another update on the ballots received until the final results are announced. But as of May 27, two days ahead of the voting deadline, Elections BC screened 698,900 ballots, which represents 44.7 per cent of registered voters.
