WATCH: Stephen Colbert tests beard styles for ‘Late Show’

TORONTO — In a video posted online Wednesday, Stephen Colbert takes razors to his face to test out different looks as host of the Late Show.

The 51-year-old grew a beard — or “Colbeard” — after The Colbert Report ended its run last December.

“I made the cover of Homeless Sea Captain Monthly,” he jokes in the video, which was shot at the end of April.

Colbert says it’s time to find a new look for the new show.

“CBS is making me shave it off because Tom Selleck’s moustache has a non-compete clause,” Colbert explains in the video.

BELOW: Stephen Colbert announced Thursday that musician Jon Batiste will be his Late Show bandleader.

He proceeds to experiment with various facial hair options — including an Amish-style beard.

“This s*** is going to go viral just as soon as they get Internet on their butter churns,” Colbert quips.

The host tries out the Wolverine before settling on “the classic clean Colbert.”

The video ends with a montage of some of the special moments Colbert had with the Colbeard.

Colbert also debuted a new Twitter account for the show.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert premieres Sept. 8 on Global.
