TORONTO — American actor Zachary Levi said Wednesday he loves Toronto but its transportation infrastructure drives him “crazy.”

Levi is spending the summer in the city filming the TV series Heroes Reborn, which will air on Global.

“The biggest problem for me in Toronto is I don’t know how to effectively get around the city,” said the 34-year-old former Chuck star, who lives near Front Street and Spadina Avenue.

“It is a city without any kind of ‘transportational’ identity.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Levi told Global News he is bewildered by Toronto’s congested streets.

“The trolleys and the cars are constantly screwing each other and the bikes are screwing everyone else,” he said.

“I don’t know how to get from one end of town to the other.”

Levi, who lives in California and once lived in New York City, doesn’t see the TTC as an option.

“The subway’s way too limited,” he said.

“So I live downtown and I walk downtown.”

Fittingly, Levi was promoting Heroes Reborn at the Shaw Media Fall Preview at a hotel on Yorkville Avenue, which is currently closed to vehicles due to construction.

A Toronto resident since April, Levi added his voice to the debate over the fate of Toronto’s clogged and crumbling expressway.

“Tear down the Gardiner,” he said. “Put it underground.”

Describing the Gardiner as a two-lane highway “with no off-ramps,” Levi said the bottleneck at the foot of the 427 makes the ride from the airport unpleasant.

“I don’t know how to deal with that,” he said. “I could walk faster into town.”
