REGINA – A problem originally expected to be solved in a few days is taking longer to fix: the cities of Regina and Moose Jaw are still asking residents to conserve water.
The municipalities are trying to reach a 25 percent reduction in consumption while they try to treat water with more algae than usual, but they are not there yet.

Regina’s mayor Michael Fougere thanked people for being patient and encouraged everyone to keep conserving water as best they can.
“It’s a very complex problem and some of the technologies we’re trying are working, but it takes time for that to run through the system. Having Lake Diefenbaker water flow through Buffalo Pound would work, but in the long term that’s a good solution to the problem…we’re still working through it,” he said.
The city expects to make an announcement with an update on the water situation Monday.
