Global’s Linda Olsen receives honorary degree from SAIT

WATCH: Global news anchor Linda Olsen was presented a honorary degree from her Alma Matter SAIT on Friday.

CALGARY – Global’s Linda Olsen was recognized Friday with an honorary degree from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT).

Born and raised in Calgary, the award-winning journalist graduated from SAIT Polytechnic with Honours in Broadcast News in 1988.

Currently a co-anchor at Global Calgary, Olsen has reported on some of the most significant events in the city, including the 2013 southern Alberta floods.

After 27 years, Linda is one of the longest-serving female news anchors in Calgary. She was named a Top 40 Under 40 by Avenue magazine and received Global Calgary’s Woman of Vision award.

Olsen is receiving an Honorary Bachelor of Business Administration.

She joins 100-year-old alumnus Clarence Hollingworth and successful businessman Dave Mowat as SAIT’s honorary degree recipients this May.
