WATCH: Toronto Police Service seek the public’s assistance identifying a man wanted in two failed robbery attempts involving the aggressive use of a cane.
TORONTO – Police are looking to identify a cane-wielding suspect in connection with two attempted robberies at separate convenience stores in downtown Toronto.
It is alleged the male suspect entered variety stores at 161 Church Street and 237 Gerrard Street East between 2:30 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, April 26.
In both cases, the man walked into each location with a four-pronged cane, waving it at the clerk and demanding money.
After unsuccessful attempts, police say the suspect fled the scene in a red four-wheeled scooter.
Police have since released security footage of one of the incidents.
The suspect is described as white, 34-45, 5’7”-5’10”, with a moustache and beard, and walks with a limp.
