The tryouts start Friday and end Sunday, when a national champion is crowned.

“I look at it this way: If you fight three times and you win and then you go to Vegas and you fight three times and you win there, you’ve fought six times in two months. You’re ready to be a pro fighter and you’re ready to make a mark in your career,” said Mein.

Each day the fights start at noon, with men and women from across Canada going toe-to-toe inside the octagon.

Mein says attendees can expect exciting fights, especially when watching the amateurs.

“They’re trying to make a name for themselves and establish their skills.”

Event passes are available ahead of time or tickets can be bought at the door.
