TORONTO – Toronto Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after the body of a man was discovered in an east-end park Monday morning.
Police say a passerby discovered the body around 10 a.m. at McCowan Park between Danforth Rd. and Bellamy Rd. N.
The 22-year-old man, identified as Nitiyand Gary Singh, was found with obvious signs of trauma.
Police say a missing persons investigation was initiated after Singh’s family came forward about his disappearance two days prior to his body being discovered.
“They reported that it was unusual for him not to make contact with his family,” said Detective Mike Carbone.
Police say Singh had been exchanging text messages with a friend during the evening of May 21 and the last messages received were around 1 a.m. on Friday, May 22.
“We’re looking to speak to anyone who had contact with Mr. Singh or observed him in and around 1 a.m. May 22,” said Carbone.
The victim was also known to frequent the area of 1347 Danforth Rd.
Police say Singh was unemployed and is a Canadian citizen.
