Man dies after aggravated assault outside Aurora Motel

EDMONTON – A 54-year-old man is dead after an aggravated assault in west Edmonton last week.

On Wednesday, May 20, 2015, Randy Evans was found lying outside the front doors of the Aurora Motel on 151 Street and 111 Avenue. Evans was treated on scene and  transported to hospital, where he died several days later.

An autopsy has confirmed his death as a homicide. The cause of death will not be released.

Homicide detectives are also working to determine if an abandoned and stolen Dodge Durango is linked to this incident. The SUV has an Alberta license plate with the number BRR-5383.

Police are asking anyone with information about the homicide or the stolen Durango to call the EPS non-emergency complaint line at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.
