Man charged in Mississauga church vandalism

Peel police have arrested and charged a 22-year-old man after a Mississauga church and school were vandalized.

On May 20 police were called to Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and the Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Elementary School. Exterior walls of the buildings had been vandalized with spray paint and a religious statue had been damaged.

On Monday, May 25, police were notified of more damage to Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Elementary School, where graffiti had been spray painted on an exterior wall.

Iqbal Hessan, 22, of Mississauga has been arrested and charged with break, enter and commit indictable offence and five counts of mischief over $5,000. He was due to appear for a bail hearing Tuesday.
