Over 700 plants seized from rural grow-op near Airdrie

CALGARY – Investigators say 730 marijuana plants with an estimated value of $912,500 were seized from rural property west of Airdrie last week.

The grow-op, found inside a Quonset hut, was dismantled by RCMP and officers from the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) on May 22nd.

Two medicinal licenses were posted at the property, but investigators say neither were valid.

Officers also found a semi-automatic handgun on the property.

Clifford Clayton Favel, 38, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Production of a controlled substance
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to order
  • Breach of probation (x 4)

Last year, police say more than 200 grow-ops were discovered across Alberta.
