You use them to draw cartoons and doodles but what about lining your eyes, flushing out your lips or to blush your cheeks?
Crayola is telling consumers that its crayons and colour pencils shouldn’t be used as makeup. Its warning comes on the heels of a string of YouTube videos and beauty bloggers’ tutorials on how to turn the school essentials into vibrant makeup.
“As the manufacturer of children’s products, safety is our top priority at Crayola. Although our products are nontoxic, we do not recommend using them to make lipstick, eyeliner or other makeup and strongly discourage their use in this manner,” the company said in a statement.
“They are not designed, tested or approved for this purpose,” it warned.

Some of the online videos suggest that because the crayons are non-toxic – and even ingested by kids – they should be harmless for face application. The videos show users soaking pencil crayons in warm water so they can use them as eyeliner to melting crayons to use as lipstick.
