St-Constant attempted kidnapping ‘an error of perception’

MONTREAL — An attempted kidnapping in St-Constant, Quebec, has been deemed an “error of perception.”

Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Joyce Kemp told Global News the information gathered by investigators has led them to believe the presumed kidnapping never happened.

The alleged incident took place around 4 p.m. last Wednesday near Levasseur Park.

Apparently, a man riding a bike approached a two-year-old girl as she walked with her mother.

“The woman who reported the incident did not have bad intentions,” said Kemp.

No further details were released, as the information is considered confidential.

The investigation has been closed. The child is doing fine and no follow-ups will be done.
