Strathcona County issues fire advisory before long weekend

WATCH ABOVE: As we inch closer to the long weekend, there are a number of fire restrictions in place, including one for all of Strathcona County. Lisa Wolansky explains.

EDMONTON – Dry conditions, high winds and warm temperatures caused a fire advisory to be issued in Strathcona County Thursday afternoon. The advisory means there is a temporary suspension of open burning privileges for fires that require permits.

Outdoor recreational fires in a pit that meet regulations are still allowed, but Strathcona County Emergency Services is asking residents to use caution and monitor contained fires.

An outdoor that meets regulations is one that is totally confined in a non-combustible structure or container that has draft and smoke vents and is covered by a metal screen.
