PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – A long-time member of the Saskatoon Blades front office is leaving the team for a new position with a provincial rival. Mike Scissons, who has been with the Blades for 12 seasons, is taking a position with the Prince Albert Raiders.
Scissons has been named the Raiders business manager, taking over from Bruce Vance who has taken a position with the City of Prince Albert.
“I’m tremendously excited to join the Raiders organization and family,” said Scissons in a release. “I have long admired the support the Raiders receive from the community and look forward to working with an already outstanding staff and Board of Directors.”

“It was an incredibly hard decision to make in leaving the Blades organization.”
Scissons is currently the Blades vice-president of business operations. He has also served on a number of committees, including the 2010 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship Marketing Committee, Saskatoon Sports Tourism Board of Directors and the 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup Ticket Sales Committee.
The Blades said while the teams are rivals on the ice, they work together off the ice to promote the WHL.
“The Raiders approached us to request permission to talk to Mike,” said Blades President Steve Hogle.
“They had an unexpected vacancy and we thought, while we would miss Mike’s experience and creativity, we wouldn’t want to stand in the way of him advancing his career.”

“I have enjoyed every moment working for the Blades for the last twelve years under the direction of both the Brodsky and Priestner families. I wish the organization and the fans nothing but the best in the future,” added Scissons.
Scissons joins the Raiders on June 1.
