Excedrin products recalled in Canada

A recall of some over the counter Excedrin products has now extended to Canada.

Earlier this year Novartis Consumer Health voluntarily recalled lots of select bottle sizes of Ecedrin, NoDoz, Bufferin and Gas-X in the United States.

The recall of Excedrin Extra Strength Caplets and Excedrin Tension Headache Caplets has now been extended to Canada.

The recall includes all lots with expiration dates of December 20, 2014 and earlier.

The recall began with reports in the U.S. of chipped and broken pills and inconsistent bottle packaging clearance practices which the FDA says could result in the bottles containing foreign tablets, caplets, or capsules which can be dangerous for patients.

Novartis says it is not aware of any adverse reports from the public with the pills.
