The recall includes all lots with expiration dates of December 20, 2014 and earlier.
The recall began with reports in the U.S. of chipped and broken pills and inconsistent bottle packaging clearance practices which the FDA says could result in the bottles containing foreign tablets, caplets, or capsules which can be dangerous for patients.
Novartis says it is not aware of any adverse reports from the public with the pills.
Novartis has posted a full list of the recalled items and lot numbers.
For information concerning the recall or how to return the affected product, consumers should directly contact Novartis Consumer Health Canada Inc’s consumer relationship centre at the following number 1-888-788-8181.
