Promoter Jean Bedard said talks would be held with the U.S. Specialty TV channel Showtime on setting a new date for the match. He said they didn’t want to take a chance of letting Cote fight after he has missed training time due to the illness.

Cote (18-0) won the vacant title with a second round knockout of Jorge Luis Teron in November.
