Dorothy Woods husband charged with first-degree murder

The husband of 45-year-old Dorothy Ann Woods made his first appearance in a Saskatoon courtroom Monday morning after being arrested and charged with first-degree murder Friday afternoon. 

David Woods, 49, will remain in custody until his next court appearance on January 19. 

The murder charge comes after the body of his wife was found in an area near Blackstrap Lake last Wednesday.

Her remains were positively identified after an autopsy Friday in Saskatoon. 

The mother of two was reported missing after last being seen in the early morning hours of November 12, 2011. 

Since then, family and friends organized several searches hoping to find clues into her disappearance. 

Police also executed several search warrants at the house of the couple, seizing several items including rifles and a computer.

David Woods has been charged with firearm offences from those seizures and is also facing charges of uttering threats to two men in separate incidents.
