Water main break in St. John’s, N.L., leaves several homes flooded

ST. JOHN’S, N.L. – Several homes in Newfoundland were flooded today after a water main break in St. John’s.

Rosemary Lawlor says the flooding brought about a metre of water into her basement at her home on Portugal Cove Road.

She says her furniture was floating about in the water.

The busy road was closed as city workers assessed the damaged pipe.

Water flowed across the road and on to nearby properties, where sandbag barricades were erected by the city.
