REGINA – There was a lengthy debate at city council Monday night over what to do about a neighbourhood that is constantly flooded.
Residents on Edward Street in the city’s west end say sewage drainage has been an issue there since the 1960’s. That’s because of problems with the city sewage pump: it’s sloped the wrong way from the homes.

Council approved a $1.5 million dollar upgrade and a review of the installations to be completed by 2017.
Residents who’ve been battling this issue for years say they are skeptical this will resolve the problem.

“Having raw sewage in your basement is not pleasant. There’s the health risk, the smell – none of it is very pleasant. I have had my basement replaced on numerous occasions to the point where I no longer have insurance,” explained resident Wanda Silzer.
