Nearly $1M in drugs seized in Edmonton bust

EDMONTON – Four people are facing drug-related charges after an investigation in Edmonton by Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams led to the seizure of nearly $1M in drugs.

On April 16, ALERT Edmonton seized seven kilograms of cocaine as well as other drugs at homes in southeast Edmonton. The cocaine was being mixed and packaged to sell, authorities said.

In addition to the cocaine, ALERT also seized:

  • 11.4 kilograms of the buffing agent Phenacetin
  • 567 grams of MDMA
  • 10 kilograms of marijuana
  • Three prohibited weapons
  • Four vehicles
  • $6,365 cash proceeds of crime

The drugs have an estimated street value of over $850,000.

Brendan Bennett, 31, Richard Comely, 33, Travis Lall, 35, and Allison Wincherauk, 27 are facing drug-related charges.

Investigators believe the group was supplying cocaine to communities throughout the capital region.

An investigation into the group started after a March 6 drug bust in Cold Lake where a Dirty Few outlaw motorcycle gang associate was arrested. In that case, Aaron Capp was arrested with 430 grams of MDMA and 140 grams of cocaine, ALERT said.
