VANCOUVER – Firefighters have been battling a blaze at the Daisy Garden restaurant in Chinatown.
Flames could be seen shooting from the roof of the restaurant, located at 142 East Pender Street. The fire started at 12:12 p.m. and many people reported seeing smoke in the area for more than an hour after. More than 60 firefighters were on scene, with 13 fire apparatus, to fight the fire.
No one was inside the building at the time and no one was injured.
A partial roof collapse resulted in the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services incident commander transitioning from an offensive mode of operations into a defensive mode. Crews had to re-position for an aerial attack due to the collapse.
