TORONTO — Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park demonstrated more than 20 years ago why a theme park featuring dinosaurs is — although arguably super cool — probably not very safe.
This summer’s anticipated blockbuster Jurassic World will drive that message home, judging by the new trailer released Monday.
“Every time we’ve unveiled a new attraction, attendance has spiked,” Bryce Dallas Howard, as scientist Claire Dearing, explains. “Corporate felt genetic modification would up the wow factor.”

Isla Nublar quickly becomes less of an Isla Bonita or, as Vincent D’Onofrio’s character Vic (who seems like he’d be no fun at a party) explains: “You’ve got 20,000 people, you got no more boats, you don’t have enough guns.”
Enter Chris Pratt on a motorcycle and cue the awesome visual effects.
The new trailer also offers more shots of Nick Robinson (Melissa & Joey) as the obligatory young heartthrob named Zach. The movie also stars Judy Greer and BD Wong.
Jurassic World, based on the characters created by Michael Crichton and executive produced by Spielberg, is set to open in cinemas on June 12.
The 1993 original, Jurassic Park, grossed just over $1 billion at the worldwide box office. A 1997 sequel, The Lost World, earned another $619 million and Jurassic Park III made $369 million in 2001.
