TORONTO — A man has been pronounced dead at the scene of an industrial accident in Peel Region after a crane collapsed.
Peel police said part of the crane landed on a worker who was standing on the ground.
Early reports said the man was in his 40s, which police have not confirmed.
It happened Tuesday morning at 10150 The Gore Road, near Castlemore Drive at a construction site behind Gore Meadows Community Centre and Library.
The call first came in as a man who had suffered serious injuries. Peel Paramedics confirmed the death just before noon.
The Ministry of Labour is expected to attend the scene.
Traffic in the area is not affected.
