Fort McMurray man charged with murder after fatal knifing

A Fort McMurray man faces murder and assault charges related to a 27-year-old man who died after a fight last week in downtown Fort McMurray, say RCMP.

An autopsy Monday concluded the victim died of stab wounds from the fight that happened just before 7 p.m. Thursday, police said in a news release.

Wood Buffalo RCMP said officers were called to the fight in the area of Main Street and Franklin Avenue where they found the injured 27-year-old man. He died later in hospital.

Stacey Ketch, 42, is charged with murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon. He is in custody and scheduled to appear in court Jan. 9.

Police did not release the victim’s name.
