Penticton Vees take game 5 over Nanaimo Clippers

PENTICTON–It was a nailbiter in the south Okanagan as The Penticton Vees beat the Nanaimo Clippers 3-2 on Thursday night in the BCHL finals to take a 3-2 lead in the series.  

The Clippers were up 2-1 heading into the third period, but the Vees rallied with two goals in the third.

Cam Amantea made a bee line down the right side and closed the gap for the Vees with just over eight minutes to go.

That put fans on the edge of their seats for the last minutes of the game, and they made some noise.

Riley Alferd was feeling the love as he took a pass from Matt Serratore, and snapped his stick before getting the puck in the net at 15:32, giving the Vees their first lead of the night.

Netminder Hunter Miska took several hard hits during the game, but stopped 24 shots to secure the victory. The game ended with several scraps on the ice.

The Vees lead the series three games to two, and can take the cup with a win in Nanaimo tomorrow night.
