WATCH: A/Sgt. Sara Swallow updates the public after the cancellation of today’s amber alert
Delta Police have now cancelled an Amber Alert for an 18-month-old who was abducted from a Tsawwassen residence by her biological father at 10:20 am Monday morning.
The suspect was arrested in Merritt just after 1:30 p.m. The child is OK and is safe.
It is expected the father will be facing charges, but Swallow says they are unknown at this time.
The man and the child were taken into custody without incident,” she adds.
According to police, the child and her mother were at a home in Tsawwassen when the father showed up. Following a dispute, the father then took the child and her mother immediately called the police.
“That this incident was able to be resolved quickly and peacefully is another example of the success of the Amber Alert Program,” Delta Police said in a release.
“Delta Police would like to thank our police partners, particularly the BC RCMP, members of the media, and the public for their diligence and assistance in getting the details of the Amber Alert out so quickly.”
