SICAMOUS – It’s a feather in the cap for a high school class in the Shuswap.
The students have been honoured by the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Society of British Columbia.
The organization has given the justice class at Eagle River Secondary School in Sicamous its Leader of Tomorrow award in the 14-17 age category.
The students were recognized for raising awareness of ALS and organizing a three kilometer walk and BBQ at the school.
ALS is a rapidly progressive, neuromuscular disease that attacks the motor neurons which transmit impulses from the brain to the body’s voluntary muscles.
The muscles eventually lose strength and die.
