TORONTO – The man credited with killing the Ottawa shooter last October was back in the House of Commons Monday and was once again the focus of a long standing ovation.
Kevin Vickers, Canada’s former Sergeant-At-Arms and new ambassador to Ireland, appeared to be choking back tears, when he received a standing ovation in the House.
Vickers, dressed in a dark suit with a dark pink tie, stood and saluted the politicians as they applauded for over a minute.

Andrew Scheer, the Speaker of the House, honoured Vickers for some of his accomplishments while in parliament.
That led to another, shorter, standing ovation from MPs.
Vickers is credited with killing Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, the gunman who stormed Centre Block in October 2014 after killing Cpl. Nathan Cirillo at the National War Memorial. Vickers went on to international renown, congratulated and honoured by world leaders and media personalities.
The day after the deadly shooting, Vickers was visibly emotional during a long and rousing standing ovation in the House. Obviously emotional, Vickers gave a brief nod in response to the applause, which lasted nearly three minutes, before taking his seat.
