7 facing drug trafficking charges in northern Sask.

LA RONGE, Sask. – Seven people are facing drug trafficking charges after a home and vehicle were searched by police in northern Saskatchewan Thursday. Around 1 a.m., RCMP conducted a traffic stop approximately 22 kilometres south of La Ronge, Sask.

Information obtained by officers on Highway 2 led to the arrest of the four people and the vehicle they were in was later searched after a warrant was obtained.

RCMP and Prince Albert police dog services also searched a residence on the Lac La Ronge First Nation at 3 a.m. in relation to the traffic stop. Three additional people were arrested.

As a result, police seized various drug paraphernalia, 90.7 grams of cocaine, hydromorphone pills and a large quantity of Canadian currency.

Trevor McCallum, 35, Tyler Johnnie, 24, Justin Whitebear, 23, Elena Mirasty, 33, Devon Ratt, 18, Garrett Ross, 20, and Tom Cook, 36, are facing numerous drug trafficking charges.

All six men and the woman appeared in La Ronge provincial court on Friday.
