Ryan Doka spends his free time adding his personal touch to popular pop songs and then uploading it on youtube.
He wants to be famous, and with over 4-million hits to his youtube channel, he’s getting close, even getting recognized around Regina.
Even his mom gets questions about her son when working at the Superstore.
“You could hear two people Ryan’s age whispering “you ask her, no you ask her” and I said yes, I’m Ryan Doka’s mother,” said Anita Doka.
He started uploading his videos three years ago, after singing karaoke on a cruise ship. His friends encouraged him to do the same in front of a computer and those videos caught on.
“Since he was little he’s always been a character. He needs attention and now he has an avenue for that attention,” Ryan’s mom said.
But with that attention, comes many hateful comments on his youtube channel.
Those comments were hard to hear for his mother who initially wanted him to stop with the videos.
But Ryan said he’s developed a thicker skin and doesn’t let the bad comments get him down.
“Negative comments give me money and views. They make me more popular,” said Doka.
He’s so popular that he’s maxed out the number of friends on Facebook at 5,000 and he has 14 Facebook pages devoted to him.
He’s even made almost $1,000 in advertising from his videos.
Ryan Doka is 17-years-old and in his last year of high school.
He said he wants to keep entertaining people through youtube and hopes his fan base will keep growing.
