Students to hold Christmas flash mobs, carol for climate action

VANCOUVER – Jingle bells may rock, but children and teens want the public thinking about stomping out climate change this Christmas too.

That’s why they’ll converge to sing re-worked carols Sunday in downtown Vancouver that ring out the message: “climate change sucks.”

Groups of students say they will perform in flash mobs in order to call on government officials to take action around saving the planet.

Sophie Harrison, with Kids for Climate Action, says even though youth can’t vote they known decisions made by the current government will have huge implications on the rest of their lives.

She says it’s high time Canada sheds its reputation as a “colossal fossil.”

Ottawa announced earlier this month it’s withdrawing from the Kyoto accord.
