SASKATOON – A standard transmission may be partially responsible for Saskatoon police nabbing three alleged vehicle thieves. The trio, all teens, were charged after two vehicles were reported stolen in the Richmond Heights neighbourhood.

The first report came in around 3 a.m. when police were informed a car had been stolen on Richmond Crescent. Officers arrived to find the car still running and abandoned in the middle of the street.

Around the same time, another report came in that a truck had just been stolen on Nobel Crescent.

The truck was spotted a short time later and officers were able to pull it over on Spadina Cresent.

Two boys, 12 and 14, and a 14-year-old girl, were arrested. They are facing 17 charges, including theft of motor vehicle, break and enter, breach of undertaking and breach of probation.

The trio will be seen by a justice of the peace Tuesday evening.

Police believe the teens abandoned the car because it had a standard transmission.
