Canada led 6-2 after the first quarter, 7-4 at the half and 12-9 after three.
Canadian head coach Patrick Oaten was happy to see his squad rebound from a tough loss to Spain on Tuesday.
“Our intensity was a lot higher tonight,” Oaten said. “We were really into the game plan and caught the Chinese off guard. Our ball movement was particularly strong. In the fourth quarter we tried to maintain that tempo, we really don’t want to focus on protecting the lead.”
In Wednesday’s other games, Australia edged Spain 12-11 and Hungary downed the Netherlands 16-14. Australia leads the standings at 2-0 followed by the Canada, China, Spain and Hungary, all at 1-1 while the Netherlands is 0-2.
Canada’s next match is Thursday against Australia.
