TORONTO — British singer Petula Clark, Toronto actress Sarah Polley and acclaimed Canadian novelist Michael Ondaatje are among the jurors for the 11th Glenn Gould Prize.
The international jury, which is being chaired by Toronto-born music producer Bob Ezrin, will meet April 12 and 13 to chose a laureate for the honour. The winner will be revealed on April 14.
The Glenn Gold Prize is given out every second year to recognize the lifetime contributions of a person to the arts.
The 2013 winner was Quebec theatre director and filmmaker Robert Lepage and previous honourees include singer Leonard Cohen and pianist Oscar Peterson.
The jury for the 11th Glen Gould Prize also includes former Governor General Adrienne Clarkson; U.S. tenor Jay Hunter Morris; HRH Julie of Luxembourg; Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television chair Martin Katz; Grammy nominee Wu Man; and American soprano Deborah Voigt.
The winner receives a cash prize in addition to the Glenn Gould Prize statue by artist Ruth Abernethy. He or she also chooses a young artist to be the recipient of the Glenn Gould Protégé Prize.
Gould, who died in 1982, was a widely acclaimed classical pianist.
